Tox Pre & Post Care
Pre-Treatment Care: Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, Daxxify®
To help ensure a smooth treatment experience and optimal results, please follow these guidelines in the days leading up to your appointment:
48 Hours Before Treatment
• Avoid alcohol (wine, beer, cocktails)—it can increase your risk of bruising and swelling.
• If possible, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, Excedrin, and other NSAIDs, unless prescribed by your provider. These thin the blood and make bruising more likely.
• Skip supplements that may also thin your blood, including:
– Fish oil
– Vitamin E
– Ginkgo biloba
– Turmeric
– St. John’s Wort
Day of Appointment
• Come with a clean face—please remove all makeup, moisturizer, SPF, and skincare before your appointment.
• Eat a light meal or snack before arriving to avoid lightheadedness or nausea.
• Wear comfortable clothes and avoid tight hats or anything pressing on the forehead area.
• Avoid intense exercise before your appointment to reduce facial heat and blood flow.
• Plan your schedule accordingly—don’t book facials, massages, dental work, or major social events right after your treatment.
Important Information to Share With Your Provider
Please let us know before your appointment if:
• You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive
• You have a neuromuscular disorder (e.g., ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton)
• You are taking blood thinners, antibiotics, or medications that affect muscle movement
• You’ve had a recent cold sore, rash, acne or skin infection in the treatment area
• This is your first time getting Botox or similar treatments—we’re happy to answer all your questions!
What to Expect
• Treatment is typically quick and comfortable, with minimal downtime.
• You may experience small bumps or redness at injection sites immediately after, which usually resolve within 15–30 minutes.
• Results begin to appear in 3–5 days, with full effect by 2 weeks.
After Your Appointment
You’ll receive full post-care instructions to take home, but remember:
• Don’t lie down for 4 hours after your appointment
• Avoid exercise, heat, massages, and facials for 24 hours
• Do not rub or touch the treated area
Final Tip: Come With a Relaxed Face
Come as you are — no need to frown, squint, or “test” your muscles before your appointment. Staying relaxed makes your treatment smooth and precise. We’ll guide you when to make expressions during your treatment so we can place your injections precisely.
Post-Treatment Care: Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, Daxxify®
To ensure the best results from your neurotoxin treatment, please follow these guidelines:
What to Avoid:
- No lying down for at least 4 hours post-treatment.
- Skip strenuous exercise or yoga for the rest of the day.
- Avoid touching, massaging, or manipulating the treated areas for 48 hours.
- Hold off on facials, massages, or facial devices for 48 hours.
- No alcohol on treatment day — it can increase the risk of bruising.
What You Can Do:
- Feel free to move the treated muscles (frown, smile, raise your brows)—this can help the product settle in.
- If bruising appears, it's normal and usually fades in a few days—makeup is safe to use to cover it.
- Expect to see visible improvement within 5-7 days, with full results at 2 weeks.
- You may resume gentle skincare and makeup the next morning. Be sure to use SPF daily, as freshly treated skin can be more sensitive to sun exposure.
What’s Normal After Treatment?
- You may notice mild redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites—this typically resolves within a few hours.
- Headaches or a heavy forehead feeling can happen and usually go away on their own within a day or two.
- Bruising is common, especially around the eyes or forehead, and can be covered with makeup.
- First-time clients may notice results fade slightly faster. With consistent treatments, results typically become longer-lasting.
- Dynamic lines (wrinkles that appear with movement, like frowning or squinting) usually smooth first.
- Static lines (wrinkles visible at rest) may take more time and may not completely disappear after one treatment, They often improve gradually with consistent treatments over time.
